2015 Oral Health Resolutions
People often start their new year with New Year’s Resolutions, many of which involve our health. When deciding on a New Year’s Resolution, keep your oral health in mind.
There are several good habits you can keep at home to make your dental visits easier and less costly.
A basic principle to oral health care at home is to brush and floss regularly and correctly. The goal of your home care is to combat the buildup of plaque in and around your teeth and gums, and to fight bad breath, tooth decay and gum disease. Once plaque builds up, infections can occur in the tissue around your teeth. This can cause your gums to become red and inflamed. Plaque is a film laden with bacteria.
Eventually, it will lead to tooth decay and gum disease. If you neglect your dental visits, that plaque can cause destruction of bone and other tissues supporting your teeth and you could lose your teeth. We can help you prevent plaque buildup, but only if you come in!
So make sure you add your oral health care as a part of your 2015 New Year Resolutions and come in to Smile Savers Dentistry in Columbia, MD for an exam and cleaning if you are due!
