invisalign-topDr. Daniel C. Stewart attended a special Invisalign group training seminar with Elite Premier Provider David Galler, DDS last month. His invitation was due to the amount of cases he has treated at Smile Savers Dentistry in Columbia, MD – and the great results his patients have been receiving with Invisalign.

Only 300 doctors in the entire United States have completed this special training… including orthodontists. As a result, Dr. Stewart has been able to offer his patients faster completion times and better results – usually in less than one year due to the methods he learned.

First Impressions are Everything

Posted on June 29, 2015. Filed under: cosmetic dentistry, Dental Braces, Invisalign, Invisalign Preferred Provider | Tags: , , , , , |

perfect invisalign smileFrom hair and skin to clothes and shoes, one’s appearance is a constant trigger of snap judgments. Whether interviewing for a job or just looking to make a good first impression, a perception study conducted by Kelton for Invisalign®, proved that even the alignment of teeth is a catalyst for assumptions regarding success, popularity, intelligence, and general health.

Like it or not, we are often judged by our appearance and your smile has more of an effect on what others perceive about you than you think. A recent study revealed that 61% of us have been attracted to someone by their smile alone! Given the emphasis placed on straight teeth, Invisalign is a modern way for both adults and teens to straighten their teeth, and it can be done without most people even knowing they are in treatment.

Clear aligners such as Invisalign® and Invisalign Teen® straighten teeth just like metal braces, yet they are more comfortable, less intrusive to one’s lifestyle and make maintaining good hygiene much easier because they are removable. This means no food restrictions, the ability to easily maintain healthy dental brushing habits, minimal interference with sports or other activities, and teeth get straightened without most people knowing you are in treatment.

If you have been considering Invisalign® for you or your teen, please make an appointment to see me for a consultation at my dental office in Columbia, MD. If Invisalign® is a good option for treating your particular situation, you can also use this opportunity to have your questions answered, including how long the process will take, how much it will cost, and how Invisalign® will fit into your life. Smile Savers Dentistry is a Premier Preferred Invisalign Provider.

Regards, Dr. Stewart

Invisalign ® and Oral Health

Posted on March 17, 2014. Filed under: cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign, Invisalign Preferred Provider, Oral Health | Tags: , , , , , , |

Dr. Daniel Stewart at Smile Savers Dentistry in Columbia MarylandYou may have thought straightening your teeth was purely a cosmetic issue, but the benefits of having properly aligned teeth extend far beyond a confident smile. It can actually significantly affect your overall dental health.

Picture your teeth as a window to the health of your body. Your teeth and gums say a lot about your overall health. If you’re taking good care of them, you’re probably taking good care of the rest of you.

With Invisalign®, having a confident smile and reducing your risk for tooth decay and gum disease go hand in hand. When teeth are properly aligned, it helps the gums fit more securely around the teeth, allowing for the strongest and healthiest defense against periodontal problems. Invisalign’s aligners gently move your teeth into the proper position.

Invisalign® aligners make daily oral hygiene easier. One of the biggest challenges of having traditional braces is successfully removing all the food that gets trapped. This often leads to plaque buildup and tooth decay. With Invisalign®, the aligners are removable, so it’s easy to brush and floss your teeth the way you normally do.

Correctly aligned teeth can also alleviate the issues that can be caused by an improper bite, speech or chewing difficulties, jaw problems, and increased wear on the tooth enamel. Invisalign® effectively addresses all of these issues, so you’ll have the confidence of a great smile and increase the likelihood of improved oral health.

If you think you are a candidate for Invisalign®, call the Smile Savers Dentistry office and schedule a consultation with me. I will be more than happy to answer all of your Invisalign® questions!

Dr. Stewart of Smile Savers Dentistry Discusses the Advances in Dental Implants

Posted on August 28, 2013. Filed under: affordable cosmetic dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, Dental Care, Dental Crown, Dental Implant, Dental Treatment, Laserlock, Quality Dental Care, Smile Savers Dentistry | Tags: , , , , |

Dr. Daniel Stewart at Smile Savers Dentistry in Columbia MarylandI recently returned from an international dental implant symposium that was hosted by the implant brand I use, Biohorizons. There were dentists at the symposium from all over the world. I was extremely impressed to see just how many doctors are embracing this technology and how predictable and well researched the dental implants we offer here at our dentist office Smile Savers Dentistry truly are.

Successful Dental Implants at Smile Savers Dentistry in Columbia, MD

Successful Dental Implants at Smile Savers Dentistry in Columbia, MD.

Biohorizons has a technology that no other brand has. It’s called Laserlok. They have solved the inherent problem of the gums attaching to the dental implant. All implants can attach to the bone but none – up to this point – were able to get the gums to attach. Through the amazing process of laser etching the side of the dental implant, at the size of 7 microns, the gum tissue will literally grow and attach to the laser channels.

I watched an electron microscope video of fibroblasts, the cells that make up the connective tissue of your gums, literally crawl along the channels and then settle in the grooves and become attached to the dental implant. Wow, to see those little cells acting on their own determinism was an amazing testament to life!

So what does this all mean to you, the dental patient? It means that these dental implants are more predictable and more natural than any other implants on the market. I am glad to be able to offer these to you at my Columbia, MD dental office, if you should need them to replace teeth or anchor a denture.

If you have any questions about dental implants, please feel free to give our dental office a call at 410-730-6460 to schedule an appointment. My experienced and caring team and I strive to be the best dentist office in Howard County and would love to help you with all of your dental and oral health care needs. The Smile Savers Dentistry office is conveniently located in Columbia, Maryland and is easily accessible from Route 100 or 29.

“So, do you really need that crown?” by Dr. Daniel Stewart

Posted on June 12, 2013. Filed under: affordable cosmetic dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, Dental Crown, Dental Health, General Dentistry, Gold Crown, Gold Dental Crown, Porcelain Crown, Same Day Dental Crown | Tags: , , , , , , |

Dr. Daniel Stewart at Smile Savers Dentistry in Columbia MarylandDentistry can be preventive, if people would only look at it that way. While your family doctor can’t look at you and say, you’re going to get sick next month… in dentistry we can tell our patients, if you don’t fix that tooth, it will start hurting soon. Unfortunately, many people wait until that tooth starts hurting to take care of it!

If you have teeth that are severely damaged due to trauma, decay, or gum disease, you should consider restoring the look and function of your smile with dental crowns. Dental crowns are placed for several reasons. Usually the tooth has been broken or severely damaged by decay. As a result, a filling can’t replace enough of the tooth or make the tooth strong enough. A crown may hold together parts of a cracked tooth and can also be used to hold a bridge in place.

There are several benefits to dental crowns. They can improve the look of broken, cracked, misshapen, or severely discolored teeth. Attached to an implant of dental bridge, a dental crown can also replace a missing tooth, restoring the look of your smile. Patients can restore their damaged or missing teeth and give the illusion of always having a healthy, bright smile.

Dental crowns should last between five to fifteen years, depending on how you take care of them. And unlike dentures, which can shift and slide, crowns stay in place because they are either cemented over your damaged tooth or implant, or anchored in place with a dental bridge to replace a missing tooth. Crowns are a superior choice over full or partial dentures, which can cause pain and discomfort because they sit on top of the jawbone and gums and can also shift around in the mouth. Crowns, on the other hand, are stable and do not irritate the gums.

Missing teeth can cause the jaw bone to shrink, which can affect a patient’s speech. Restoring missing teeth with crowns can help a patient speak confidently, in a relaxed tone. A dental crown can also restore confidence to patients who feel self-conscious about their “broken” smile as well as restoring full function of your damaged tooth!

If you are considering dental crowns, call our dentist office in Columbia, MD at 410-730-6460 to make an appointment. And please visit the Smile Savers Dentistry website, we have a special $200 OFF a crown offer in our June 2013 newsletter.

A Word From Dr. Stewart: Snap-On Smiles

Posted on August 29, 2012. Filed under: affordable cosmetic dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, Dental Treatment, orthodontics, Smile Savers Dentistry, Snap-On Smiles, Teeth alignment, Teeth Whitening, Tooth straightening, Tooth Whitening | Tags: , , , , |

Dr. Daniel Stewart at Smile Savers Dentistry in Columbia MarylandA few of my patients have asked me about the product called Snap-On Smile over the years. I have told them that I was not sure about the merits of this product, thinking that it was just another fly-by-night, pie-in-the-sky dental product that I have witnessed over the last 23 years. But… I have recently had a change of heart.

For those who are wondering what I am talking about, the Snap-On Smile is a patented, easy and painless way by which you would be able to fix the cosmetics of your smile by snapping over top of your teeth, a custom designed set of teeth. They look realistic and you can eat with them.

The Snap-On Smile comes with a one year warranty and can last from 3-5 years. From their track record, they are a legitimate alternative for someone who wants to correct their dental appearance but doesn’t have the finances, time or willingness to get the more permanent fix done.

If you would like more information about the Snap-On Smile or want a consult about this alternative, please give our Columbia Maryland dental office a call for an appointment at 410-730-6460.
