lumineers-dr-stewartSmile Savers Dentistry is pleased to announce that Dr. Daniel C. Stewart recently completed Lumineers certification training and is now the only certified dentist in Howard County providing Lumineers for patients wishing to enhance their smile through cosmetic dentistry. With Lumineers, the number one patient-requested veneer, Dr. Stewart is able to dramatically improve a patient’s smile while still maintaining a natural appearance.

“I am thrilled to be able to offer Lumineers in the office. They are extremely strong and really thin, like a contact lens. The results are amazing – immediate, dramatic, and long-lasting,” stated Dr. Stewart. “You can have the smile you’ve always wanted in less time and with far more comfort than you ever imagined.”

Lumineers is a painless, permanent cosmetic dental solution for stained, chipped, discolored or misaligned teeth. The benefit with Lumineers is that they require no tooth preparation, no novocaine and no temporaries! Lumineers are made of a very thin layer of porcelain applied to the front of the teeth. Unlike crowns or traditional veneers, Lumineers don’t require the removal of much tooth structure.

Advantages of Lumineers:

• It’s Fast! 2 easy dentist visits
• No shots
• No drilling of sensitive tooth structure
• Instant whitening that lasts
• Extraordinarily strong
• Natural-looking
• No uncomfortable temporaries
• Reversible
• No age restrictions
• Backed by over 20 years of clinical research

Smile Savers Dentistry Launches New Branding and Mission Statement

Smile Savers Dentistry Columbia MDJust What is Smile Savers Dentistry?

Smile Savers Dentistry is dedicated to high-quality, personalized care for every patient. At Smile Savers we never consider you to be a number, a procedure or an insurance code. Every one of you is an individual person and deserves individualized dental care. We honor the trust given us by each patient to have expert dental care.

Our mission is to help people get over their dental worries and fears so they can receive the real help they need. By providing our patients with comfortable and expert care, they will each be able to overcome any dental issues which may have been troubling them – or even haunting them for perhaps years.

We believe that a relaxed approach to each patient’s dental needs is what works best. We encourage our patients, and help them all along the way, rather than being rushed into a schedule for that next procedure. We even make it a policy to try to remove the typical sights, sounds and smells of a dental practice; to make our patients feel at home. We’re proud that we even have a cozy fireplace to make things especially warm and welcoming during the cold winter months!

Because of our personal and individual approach, Smile Savers can seem like a very different dental office. We’d like to think we are! Consider us a throwback to that earlier time — when things were friendlier, and you knew your doctor and his staff like friends. A time when relationships mattered.

The real point is that we value each one of our patients. Each patient is a part of our lives and we’re part of theirs. We’re here to provide you with the highest level of dental care possible, using the latest technology. Speaking on behalf of every member of our team, there is no greater reward or honor for each of us than to see our patients happy, healthy and smiling with confidence.

Well, we’ve been looking things over lately and decided we wanted to undergo a bit of change in our mission statement, (see other side) to better communicate our goals and our commitment to you. And we’re starting out with a brand new logo!

With this new symbol, it’s our hope to better represent who we really are at Smile Savers Dentistry and why we care about you.

We welcome your feedback. Let us know what you think! Thank you, and I hope to see you in the office soon.

Regards,
Dr. Stewart

Call 410-730-6460 Today to Make a Summer Appointment Before Our Schedule Fills Up!

Summer Dental Appointment
Everyone wants to go to the beach in the summertime… but the dentist office? Sure, why not!? It’s a great time to come in to Smile Savers Dentisty in Columbia Maryland. No missed classes or tests to worry about. Well, that may be a better incentive for the parents than the kids… but you get what I’m saying.

It’s important to keep your children on a regular dental check-up schedule. The condition of a child’s teeth can change fairly rapidly. Even if their teeth were evaluated as healthy just six months prior, changes in diet or oral habits (for example, thumb sucking in younger children) can quickly render them vulnerable to decay or misalignment.

Dental X-rays are often the only way to identify tiny cavities in primary (baby) teeth. Though your child may not be feeling any pain, left unchecked, these tiny cavities can rapidly turn into large cavities, tooth decay, and eventually, childhood periodontal disease.

In addition to visual examinations, our hygienists provide thorough dental cleanings during each visit. These cleanings eradicate the plaque and debris that can build up between teeth and in other hard to reach places. Though a good homecare routine is especially important, these professional cleanings provide an additional tool to keep those smiles healthy. We may even decide to apply dental sealants to their back teeth (molars). This impenetrable liquid plastic substance is brushed onto the molars to seal out harmful debris, bacteria, and acid… an added preventive measure!

We’ve even made it easy for you to come in, you can request a dental appointment for your family online. Hope to see you and your kids in the office this summer. In the meantime, enjoy the beach!

Regards,
Dr. Daniel C. Stewart

Laser Periodontal Therapy for Bone Regeneration

Posted on May 6, 2015. Filed under: Dr. Daniel Stewart, gum disease, Gum Surgery, LANAP, Periodontal Disease, Smile Savers Dentistry | Tags: , , , , |

My patients know that I am committed to delivering the most precise, comfortable, and time-efficient treatments to each and every person who comes in to Smile Savers Dentistry. To achieve this, I implement only cutting-edge technology and tools that have been proven to produce brilliant results.

One such technology is the PerioLase® Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure, or LANAP. This technology vastly exceeds traditional periodontal therapy because it’s implemented by sophisticated laser design to help patients regenerate significant bone loss due to periodontal disease. PerioLase® is the only dental laser to have a 100% success rate in tissue reconstruction!

This treatment sterilizes the gum pocket around the tooth and removes bacteria from the inside of the pocket. By creating a clean, sealed, and stable environment, the PerioLase® procedure promotes a regenerative healing process that culminates in creating an environment that best supports the regeneration of bone in your mouth. Restoring the bone mass and structure in your mouth is vital in strengthening your gums, teeth, and overall oral health.

Bone Regrowth with LANAPThe image on the left is a before and after photo set of a patient’s case. In the photo of the patient’s radiograph on the left, you’ll notice the large open space in-between the center tooth’s roots. When such a space exists it indicates a loss of bone. It’s most often brought about by periodontal disease. As you can see in the photo on the right (taken just 2 months after treatment), the tooth was saved due to proper
bone rengeneration.

The Periodic Oral Exam – by Dr. Daniel C. Stewart

Posted on August 25, 2014. Filed under: Dental Health, Dr. Daniel Stewart, Oral Health, Smile Savers Dentistry | Tags: , , , , |

Dr. Daniel Stewart at Smile Savers Dentistry in Columbia MarylandMany times patients think they are just coming in for their six month cleaning. While that may be true, the more important reason for coming in is the periodic oral exam. If you come in every 6 months for your “cleaning,” good for you! If you don’t, think about the following.

I have found over the last 25 years that most people believe that if there is no pain in their mouth, then all is well and there is no need to see me. While this may be true for a muscle or joint, this is not the case for the mouth.

Teeth and gums are really resilient. You can eat ice cream and then drink coffee with little effects. You can eat crusty bread without tearing up your mouth. Your teeth are made to be tough. So when there is pain when you eat, it is usually too late to keep it simple. By the time a tooth hurts, infection is usually in the nerve. By the time your gums hurt because of gum disease, so much bone has been eaten away, the tooth may need to be extracted.

So, don’t skip your periodic evaluations. It could save you some unnecessary pain and expense down the line. If you are due (or OVER due) for your next exam, call the Smile Savers Dentistry office today and make an appointment at 410-730-6460.

Dr. Daniel Stewart at Smile Savers Dentistry in Columbia MarylandHappy New Year!

December 2013 was a special month for me. Not only was it my birthday month, but this year it also kicks off my twenty-fifth year of practicing dentistry. Yes, twenty five years ago I opened the dental practice here in Maryland. Starting with two chairs and three employees (including me) and with no patients, Smile Savers Dentistry was born.
Smile Savers Dentistry Columbia MD
After twenty five years, I have calculated that I have treated over 62,500 dental patients here in Columbia. Considering the wear and tear from that, my body still feels pretty good! And if you can believe it, I still really enjoy my profession and I am excited to come in to work each day. With the help of my great staff and great patients, it makes it pretty easy!

I am looking forward to this anniversary year. It’s going to be special. Thanks to everyone along the way who has helped get me here and I am looking forward to the future.

Regards,
Dr. Daniel Stewart
